The Loire-Atlantique/Vendée Cancer Registry in Nantes (France) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Engineer in Epidemiology/Biostatistics (M/F).

HOST STRUCTURE: Loire-Atlantique/Vendée Cancer Registry – Nantes (France)

The Loire-Atlantique/Vendée Cancer Registry has a dual mission of health surveillance and research. On one hand, it produces surveillance indicators through the permanent and exhaustive recording of all cancers diagnosed since 1998 among residents of the Loire-Atlantique or Vendée departments at the time of diagnosis.

On the other hand, the registry develops a research theme focused on evaluating cancer diagnostic/screening practices and care pathways (social and geographical disparities in cancer care) in the general population without selection bias. The registry particularly focuses on such studies related to breast cancer, for which routine data collection includes more detailed and precise items than for other cancers. In this context, the registry coordinates or participates in national or international studies.

The registry is part of the French network of cancer registries, FRANCIM. It was highly favorably evaluated in 2020 by the Registry Evaluation Committee (CER).

Project Description

The ACCESSEIN study (Access to Care and Territorial Disparities in Breast Cancer Management) will complement the study on socioeconomic disparities in breast cancer incidence and survival in Loire-Atlantique/Vendée, conducted as part of the SIRIC-ILIAD Rework SHS Program 3 (2019-2022). The recruited person will relate care access indicators, care quality, and a deprivation index for breast cancer patients. They will then explore the relationship between these factors and survival, considering known prognostic factors of the cancer.

  • Organizing regular meetings to report on progress within the registry
  • Organizing, leading, and participating in meetings with other program partners, presenting interim results, and writing reports
  • Writing scientific articles based on this study

The hired person will work closely with the registry’s team of epidemiologists, scientific project partners (particularly Inserm CERPOP unit, Western Cancer Institute, and the Regional Cancer Network), and institutional partners (Regional Health Agency, Region).
